Notes from Angie #3: Mid-Month Check-In, Owning Your Ish & The Truth About Daily Momentum
It's Not Too Late to Get Your Ish Together!
Can we talk about how we're already almost HALFWAY through October?! Like, excuse me?! Where is the time going?!
I swear, one minute we're getting excited about fall, setting all these amazing goals, organizing our planners, and feeling like we've got our ish together... and the next thing you know, life happens.
And honestly? That's kind of what I wanted to chat about today.
We're almost halfway through our 5th annual 31-Day Get Your Ish Together Challenge on YouTube, and first of all, I just want to say how much I've been LOVING having you guys along for this!
Whether you've been showing up every morning with your coffee and planner, catching up on videos when you have a minute, or just following along when you can, I hope you're taking something away from these little daily check-ins.
But I also know that around this point in the month, things can start to get a little... messy.
Maybe you started October feeling SUPER motivated, and now you're struggling to keep up. Maybe you've missed a few days of the challenge. Or maybe you had every intention of joining us and haven't even started yet.
Well, guess what?
You don't need to wait until November. And you DEFINITELY don't need to wait until January 1st!
You can literally start today.
Getting Your Ish Together Doesn't Mean Having Everything Together
One of the things we talked about earlier in the challenge was owning your ish. And I think this is SUCH an important conversation because it's really easy to get caught up in this idea that we need to have everything figured out before we can start making changes.
We tell ourselves we'll get organized when life slows down. We'll start working toward that goal next Monday. We'll create a better routine when we have more time.
But here's the thing... life doesn't really slow down, does it?
And I think that's why I've become so passionate about having a daily planning routine.
When I originally started creating what eventually became The Daily Grind Planner, it wasn't because I wanted another pretty planner sitting on my desk.
I wanted something that would actually help me make progress on the things that mattered to me.
Because there's a BIG difference between having a really busy day and having a day where you actually feel like you've accomplished something meaningful.
And that's something I want you guys to remember.
The goal isn't to have the longest to-do list or the most perfectly organized schedule. The goal is to create a life you LOVE, and make sure the things you're doing every day are helping you get there.
Sometimes You Just Need to Get Back to Basics
If you've been feeling a little scattered lately, I want you to try something with me.
Nothing complicated. Nothing that requires you to completely reinvent your routine.
Just three little things.
1. Get clear on what actually matters right now.
Grab your planner and take a look at the goals you've been working toward.
Are they still important to you? Are you actually making time for them? Or have you gotten so caught up in all the little things that you've forgotten what you were working toward in the first place?
Sometimes we need to remind ourselves WHY we're doing all of this.
2. Pick your three needle movers.
You guys KNOW how much I love this part of the Daily Grind system!
Instead of writing down 25 things you need to get done and then feeling overwhelmed before you've even had your coffee, ask yourself:
What are the THREE things I can do today that will actually move me closer to my goals?
Not necessarily the easiest things. Not just the things that feel urgent.
The things that matter.
And here's the fun part: when you start making those little bits of progress consistently, they really do add up!
3. Give yourself permission to start again.
Seriously.
Missed three days of planning? Open your planner today.
Haven't worked out all week? Go for a walk.
Fell behind on the challenge? Jump back in!
You don't need to make up for every single thing you didn't do yesterday. You just need to decide what you're going to do TODAY.
And please don't underestimate what ten minutes of intentional planning can do for your day.
It doesn't need to be perfect to be worth doing.
Let's Make the Rest of October Count!
Here's what I really hope you take away from this.
Getting your ish together isn't something you accomplish once and then magically have figured out forever.
It's something you keep working on. Little by little, day by day.
Some days you're going to feel like you're absolutely crushing it. Other days... well, we're doing our best.
And that's okay!
What matters is that you keep coming back to the things that are important to you.
That's really why I love having this October challenge with you guys every year. It's an opportunity to check in with ourselves, make some changes, build better habits, and remind each other that we're all working toward becoming the best versions of ourselves.
So if you've fallen a little behind, consider this your invitation to jump back in.
Grab your coffee, pull out your Daily Grind Planner, and come hang out with me over on YouTube for our next Get Your Ish Together check-in.
And I'd actually LOVE to know something...
What's ONE thing you want to feel really good about accomplishing before October is over?
It doesn't have to be anything huge. Sometimes the smallest changes make the biggest difference.
Let me know in the comments because I always love hearing what you guys are working on!
We've still got plenty of October left, so let's make it count!
